Water Resource CAD Technician

Austin, TX or Denver, CO – Fulltime Position

JA Wastewater specializes in permitting, design, and construction oversight of decentralized wastewater treatment solutions.  We work with landowners, MUDS, developers, developer engineers, private companies, and utility companies to provide solutions for wastewater treatment in areas not able to tie into a municipal system.

JA Wastewater is looking for a CAD Technician for the critical role in the design and development of engineering projects utilizing CAD. 

Position Summary


Drafting and Design:
  • Create accurate 2D drawings, schematics, and plans
  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and rough drafts to produce detailed and comprehensive technical drawings.
  • Must be able to collaborate with engineers, architects, and other team members to understand project objectives, requirements, and constraints.
  • Participate in design review meetings and incorporate feedback into drawings as necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders to address design-related queries and issues.
  • Assist in troubleshooting design-related problems and suggest design modifications when necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineers to find solutions to design challenges and optimize project outcomes.

  • Quality Control:
  • Review and cross-check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design standards.
  • Identify and rectify errors or discrepancies in drawings and collaborate with the design team to resolve technical issues.

  • Technical Expertise:
  • Stay updated on the latest CAD software tools and industry best practices to ensure efficiency and accuracy in drafting.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes to produce technically sound drawings.
  • Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D is preferred
  • Understand and follow company CAD standards regarding final drawing appearance and the CAD processes required to produce drawings. This includes, but is not limited to layers, line weights, annotation, viewports, blocks, external reference files, plot styles, etc.
  • Be familiar with plan sets using sheet set manager.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, error-free drawings.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Time management skills to meet project deadlines.
